Education, Elders, and Independence

July began with one of our most cherished traditions: the Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway Program. Hundreds of students across Navajo Nation communities and Whiteriver received branded backpacks filled with supplies, easing the financial burden for families and preparing kids for a successful school year.

We were honored to serve over 500 meals at Elder Fest in Crownpoint, a beloved event that provides elders with an opportunity to gather, connect, and celebrate culture. Our Activation Station also helped community members access Lifeline services, ensuring practical support alongside celebration.

In the White Mountains, we again partnered with Timber Mesa Fire and Medical District to support the Firewise Community Education Event. Through sponsorship and volunteers, we helped raise awareness about wildfire prevention, critical for protecting lives and landscapes in our mountain communities.

And, in the spirit of Independence Day, we supported Freedom Thunder, a veterans-centered celebration attended by nearly 700 people. With food, canopies, and chairs provided free of charge, veteran families were able to celebrate and reflect in comfort.

July reminded us that education, elder care, safety, and service to veterans remain central pillars of our mission.
